As to the Bar scene... when I was in Canada, where I am of the legal drinking
age (19), I visited a few bars... I felt very much like Holden or perhaps
Kerouac, in that the bars I visited were like the bars they frequented... I
ordered a few beers, and before I left, a few regulars of the bar welcomed me
to their place by paying my tab for the night, even buying me a few Molson's
Canadian's or Labatt Blue's... the bartender was nice, as were the other
guys, (especially the ones who picked up my tab) and the girls were great (not
the "whores" of Kerouac's bar, althought I did spend a great night "talking"
with one of them...) I doubt this would ever happen in the US, but when it
happened I could not help imagining myself in the innocence of the past, or
perhaps the present, in a few forgotten places...
