We all `know' Holden because JD gave him > a highly configured personality - but did we ever actually encounter > him out there ? O absolutely - my brother *is* Holden Caulfield, no doubt about it. His dream is (and I'm not kidding here) to be a Vagabond - to go out to Tibet and pitch a tent in the woods, build a house, to kill and skin his own food ... and TheSecretGoldfish used to get quite agitated when I asked him if he was really Holden Caulfield (there was no insult intended, I really believed he was!!!) But this is all beside the point anyway ... sure, I don't know too many guys who get around in nighted colour, drove their girlfriend to death and have weird sort of Oedipal things happening with their mother - but I *do* know plenty of thirty-three year olds who wonder quite a lot whether it is worth being or not being ... and *this* is what I'm getting at.
