PROBABLY the most precarious activity in which to engage is speculation
about someone's motives :)  BUT we all do it :)

For my part, I can't even BEGIN to understand why SOME of those books
were put on there while Marquez and Pynchon were left off.  To the degree
that literature can be approached objectively, to Whatever degree,
however small or large, to that degree this seems like a Freaking Crime
to me :)  

So yeah, it is pushing forward My candidate, in my case.  But GEEZ.
