I know the movie Pleasantville has been mentioned a few times in the past so
one more mention won't hurt. I saw it last night on the telly and noted
these CITR references.

A boy in the soda shop is handed a book and he says yeah this is great it's
about a boy that gets kicked out of prep school and .....
then it fades to another scene.

A large color mural is painted and on it is a scene of a recent book burning
in the town. Out of the flames rises CITR with wings on the book, escaping
the flames.

A boy is in jail and his father brings him a jar of olives.
Ok, ok ,they would really have to be into Salinger to have consciously done
that one, but it's in the movie so who knows.

nice movie.

Well after being sans Catcher since March, when I gave my niece my hardback
copy, I am now Catcher-with. I found an 86 Bantam red/maroon/whatever/ copy
at a used bookstore and a $1.50 later I have Holden and co. at my finger
tips. : )
