It hadn't occurred to me since I never encountered
such a phenomenon in my clinical work.
But then from out of the past came the memory
from the crazy days of my own drunkenness, playing,
once or twice, that foolishness of stabbing the knife
onto the table between one's spread fingers.
At the time, it seemed like nothing more that a hilarious,
coward's version of Russian Roulette. I'm sure, now,
that swirling around in the bottom of the murky fluids
was a rather vigorous self-loathing.
