Self-mutilation is probably just as prevalent among boys,
although it usually takes the form of "look how tough I am"
-- bloody knuckles, holding your hand over a flame,
cutting your palm and clasping hands with a blood brother.
Quite different than the girls, and not, I think, a reflection
of self-loathing.
