*trying desperately to re-enter the bananafishbowl without making a SPLASH!*

Thanks Will! (It was the second best father's day gift that I got this
year.... Well, maybe the third--since my daughter, knowing my profound need
to someday cultivate asperagus.... HANDS OFF SCOTTIE!--got me a book about
vegetable gardening; and my wife got me tickets to Billy Bragg's Woody
Guthrie show....)

Is there any way that one of you New Yorkers could clip the article, and
send a copy to Trawna? (Maybe it's on the NYTimes website?)

How 'bout them BlueJays!?!?!?!?! Eh?

Cheers,

Paul

OSR--Tim's been talking (perhaps privately, but I think it's time to go
public) about some sort of public event or reading to celebrate the 50th
anniversary of the publication of Catcher. I propose that we all plan to
get together for a baseball game in New York City. Since I'll be turning 50
in the same week, I could call it my personal 50th birthday party--thereby
quixotically attempting to deflect the interest and attention of Harold B.
Ober & Associates. We could play a game of softball in Central Park. And
if we spontaneously started reading VERY LOUDLY from our favourite parts of
a certain red-jacketed book (Cecilia could bring her maroon copy....) a good
time might be had by all. It would also provide an excuse to get the
Comanche shirts Tim was also talking about, designed and executed. First
week in July, 2001. Mark it in your calendars, everybody.

PS--And THANKS, Bruce, for bringing up the Hapworth anniversary. A
thirty-five year wait for publication (and the clock is still ticking) ought
to give heart to all those unpublished authors in our midst!
