I was always under the impression that "Zoe" was pronounced ZO as in a French
person saying "So". I also was inclined to think that "Zooey" was pronouced
ZO-E, with a hard "E" as in a French person saying "Souey!".

p.s. No offense to any French out there. Some of my best friends are French
upon last inspection, but you can never quite tell.
