Well, it's perfect that Nixon and Scottie both like the food of SATAN. I
feel redeemed now and pleased to know that my gag reflex is politically
discerning.
And of course Dick Nixon liked peas, the slimy little bastards were probably
identity objects for him. I wouldn''t be at all surprised if he regularly
used them in his late night benzedrine and whiskey benders. I can see him
now, pelting the portrait of Jack Kennedy with the squishy green balls from
hell in a jealous and drunken rage, right before he chews his last piece of
blotter for the night and retires to wrestle with Pat in a fit of sweaty
lizard love as they roll around on the pea covered mattress, their soaking
bodies making a sick sort of pea soup beneath them. And it's a well known
fact that only a true Satan worshipper can eat pea soup. "The Exorcist" had
that much right.
The Federal Government resource-code number for peas in the school lunch
program is "666." It's true. Check it out and get back to me.

OB Sal: Sorry, my copy of the Hassan piece is in a book -- an old anthology
of Salinger criticism I still have. I do not know of an online copy
available. Perhaps Will does.
