For those of us blessed with Fingerspitzengefühl,
Jim, the need for thought doesn't arise - certainly
not the need to Think Too Much.

Memory is, however, mandatory - even the traumatic
memory of being suffocated with dental composition
while having a cast made for one's brace in 1941, just
around the fall of Kharhov & the arrival in Casablanca
    of Ingrid, aka Ilsa.

I suppose someone DID mention, did they, the droll use
of 'braces' in these islands to denote what Yanks call
'suspenders'? (God, this subject is tedious.) Which
suspenders, you might say - to Michael's continuing
bewilderment - are the items one's grandfather used
to fasten under his knee to maintain a sleek tautness
of the hose beneath the trouser cuff.
