Hi Kim (again),
I have read the first few chapters of the Dora biography and a colleague of
mine did get the chance to interview the woman who wrote it -- Kathy Diamant.
Hers is a fascinating story -- this whole project began as a bit of family
history and grew into an absolute obsession.
The book, at least the opening chapters of it anyway, are also intriguing and
I thought rather well written. There is a certainly a genuine passion in
this story, not only between Franz and Dora, but between the biographer and her
subject. It's both a story about an amazing woman and a story about the
process of constructing a biography, especially such a personal one for an author
who share's the subject's name, and the meaning that process gives to the
researcher.
I think it is going to be a good read through to the end.
Thanks for mentioning the other one as well.
All the best,
--John
