hi john,

thanks for the response below re diamant. i haven't
had a chance to read the book. have been during some
rilke research. (by the way, since you are a poet, i
would be most curious about your take on 'that bastard
rilke'.)

back to franz: i'm not sure if all of his writings
have been translated into english. do you know? i've
never sat down with the complete works and tried to
match up titles. (in the recent cambridge campanion
to kafka, there is an interesting chapter on the state
of kafka texts. some controversies regarding what or
who are we reading in the texts NOT published by
kafka. as you know, there's always been concerns re
max's editing; the essay fleshed it out nicely.) i
sense most, if not all, of k.s work has been
translated; but as to which texts were used is another
problem (apart from those he published).
