You can't be seriours! Grisham and Steel are not the avatars of
american prose?!? Why, just last week I overheard Billy Boy Faulkner
tell a half naked Flannery O'Connor over a couple sexes on the beach in
a mexian resturant in the Mall of the Americas that Grisham was his
favorite Southern writer. Some guy at the bar who called himself
Kentucky or Alabama or Tennessee something or other concured, adding,
"and he (Grisham) should have played Mitch in "The Firm": he's better
looking than that Cruz character. Besides, that guy doesn't even look
Mexican and I should know."
