wow! is this true? i would be frightened if more europeans came and got
the american university education system that they probably deserve a lot
more than anyone graduating from an american high shool (such as myself).

i haven't read anything of his other than the book of laughter and
forgetting, but i think the whole post-communist czech author movement is
wonderful on the whole. ivan klima is another great author to come out of
that area (judge on trial). there's some wonderful disillusionary and
hallucinatory element tto their fiction, no doubt in part responding to
everything that has happened in eastern europe during/since the second
world war that reveals a distinctly unique experience. the psychological
effects of war must be staggering. , aside having just learned about the
history of international cinema, i would sggest that it's the second
mgreatest influence on the medium next to the addition of synchronized
sound.
