i dont want this to start into an all out punk war... because i truly feel that punk is dead.. however... i have to agree with AK and its not just bands from the 80's that were political... crass and the dead kennedys are probably recognized as the most political bands.. but crass originated in the mid 70's... and although punk today focuses more on pop (parties, girls and beer) there are still numerous bands that focus on politics (although some are more ska than punk: AAA)... and about rebellion.. thats all punk is and ever was... just because today punk may not be about rebellion.. doesnt mean that true punk isnt about it... and the fact that most punk bands aren't rebellious is also the reason i think punk is dead... the clash, the pistols, x, buzzcocks, angelic upstarts, and even the ramones were all about rebellion either in music or in the world and many times both... byebye joey
