I'm sure I'm alone here, but Bill Clinton has put an end to my cynicism when
it comes to American presidential politics. I'm looking forward to voting!
Your attitude really depends on your expectations.

In my opinion, a good president must have the following qualities:

1) IQ >= 125. Able to accurately process and recall huge stores of data.
(excludes Reagan)
2) Heart must be in the right place -- the left side of his chest. He's
sympathetic to the causes of greens, blacks, gay marriage, etc. He smoked a
bit of reefer when young. (this pretty much rules out all republicans and
Pat Buchanan)
3) The idea of some people getting rich doesn't cause him to froth at the
mouth. (Ixray on the Alphray Adernay)
4) He must have an instinctive knack for negotiation, compromise, spin,
manipulation, leveraging power, etc. In other words, he's a true politician.

5) Has no illusions/delusions that he can or should radically alter American
political and economical processes.

Happily, Al Gore easily meets all of these criteria, so I'll vote for him.
