Sorry, Paul, but the fact is that George Bush Sr's (not the Bush currently
running, but the previous Bush) approval ratings (in the US alone, I want to
add) were well over 80% immediately after the Gulf War. He pulled it off
quite well and gained international support before he ever started anything.

If you don't see that it had to be done, I guess there's no use discussing it
further. Just take a look at the map and consider the strategic importance
of Kuwait in relationship to the Gulf, and how that would affect shipping
through the Gulf and our supply of oil.
