------Was in a second hand store near me last weekend
and found a barn red, lake copy from maybe as late as
'81 or '82 (I didn't write the date down). There was
a difference though; the one we remember from years
ago was printed on dull finished paper stock. This
edition was printed on slick paper stock, the cover
was very shiny. The barn red lake seemed a shade
darker as did the Velveeta cheese yellow of the title
(note to Lucy R., Scottie, Berndt, and The Laughing
Man: a brand of mass produced pre-packaged American
cheese). No doubt about it; it felt artificial, like
a replica of the real thing - it may say Bantam, but
I'll bet anything it came from the Franklin Mint.
