... Yesterday I received a message from our long lost
Austrailian Franny (Camille Scaysbrook).
She sent me a "Pretty Park.exe" file. I haven't
opened it yet. My super-sluthing powers tell me that
Cam wasn't the sender of this email, it was a virus.

I HAVE WRITTEN TO CAMILLE AND SHE HAS CONFIRMED THAT
IT IS A VIRUS!!
DELETE THE EMAIL AND ATTACHMENT IMMEDIATELY AND DO NOT
OPEN.
Fortunately, it DOES NOT damage your hard drive or
delete any data. It just goes through your address
book and replicates the same email.

I have corresponded with Camille off-list in the past,
so when I received this I figured it was some writing
with HTML or graphics that she'd sent on to me to take
a look at. When I could not open it, I emailed her
back saying, 'there's a problem with this,' that's
when she immediately wrote back with the virus info.

I have pasted in her response to me below:

ED - I'm really sorry, but my computer has passed on a
virus to yours. I'm not sure if you got the email that
I sent out to everyone I could think of but here it is
again in case you didn't:

Hi Everyone,
It's quite likely you just got a message from me with
the subject line
c:\coolprogs\prettypark.exe.

DO NOT open this email or run the attached programme -
it's a virus !!!

If you have already opened it (and it's pretty
tempting what with that cute little South Park icon),
it will simply be sent to everyone in your address
book - so at least it's not a rampant data-chomping
one. However, it is annoying, so please pass this
message on to anyone you believe you may have sent the
virus on to.

Tell them to delete the email and attachment
immediately and NOT to open it. Please know that this
virus wasn't sent intentionally to annoy you!

Sorry! (P.S. everyone at my work received it from the
CEO of the company so
blame him ;)

I'm sorry about this - one of those rotten and
annoying things that happens every now and then. … I'm
at work now, and my whole morning has disappeared as I
have answered
every email saying `Hi Camille - that file you sent me
didn't work. …

Take care,

Camille
