Hey Gabe!

Welcome to the bananafishbowl!

As someone who has lurked here for about a year, watching YOUR first dip
(only this morning), and your innocent encounter with a Loch Ness Monster
named Scottie, brought tears of laughter to my cheeks. You obviously had no
idea what was happenning. But I predict that once you get to know Scottie,
and he gets to know you, you'll be among the best buddies in the fishbowl....

Now my knee-jerk response to your question: Read the Glass Saga as it falls
into your hands, with no pre-determined order. I think it ought to feel
like you're rummaging around in Franny's attic, with strange stuff coming
out of old cardboard boxes, and no connection whatsoever to chronological
order. As far as I'm concerned, you should forget the order of publication,
too.... I DO think, however, that Hapworth is important, and can not be
excluded from any Glass Family dance card without near fatal loss.... (And
to think that I compared myself to a camp counsellor only a few days ago
here! What's Scottie going to say about that?)

You've entered the fray at what my Chinese friends describe as a
particularly "interesting" time, Gabe. (Remind me to ask Tim whether the
archives are organized in such a fashion that it's possible to go directly
to a section labelled "Bloodbaths"....) Your first encounter was with a
mythical monster from the Great Glen--and we all know how scarey THAT might
be!--but you survived your trial by Scottie's fierony, so I'm sure you'll do
just fine.

By the way, what colour is the cover of your Catcher? And have you
scribbled any poetry on a baseball glove recently?

Cheers,

Paul
