neglected to console gabe on his cummins complex. Good Dr., your duty
runneth before.
If you have a care for the author's relationship to his characters,
Salinger's stories should be read in the order of publication. If you do
not, it is probably just as well to read them in that order regardless, as
Buddy's unfolding neuroses only become tangled when opened in the wrong
order. It is wrenching to listen to him apologize for his
reconsiderations as it is, and we will only compound wrenches with
potholes if we read _SA:I_ before "Bfish," "Bfish" after "Teddy."
P.S. for Paul: cactus juice is what we drink in Texas. Right out of the
cowboy boot.
