No, Suzanne. It was all my own work, scribbled off
in a quarter of an hour on the Windows Paintbox,
the only graphic application I could find in my machine
& one with which I was not very acquainted.
I was responding in a vacant moment to Bernd's plea
to give you some support.
It was only after I consulted your site that I realised
there was a limitation on the file size. I'm a complete
moron when it comes to the difference between bimps,
bumps, giffs, gaffes or whatever & only realised the full
implications after I'd actually pressed 'send' & could see
how long it was taking to transmit.
I plead guilty to not reading the precise conditions of
the competition - that it was to be confined to
The Catcher. I assumed any Salinger connection would
qualify & that Seymour, being so compelling a figure
on this list, would be acceptable.
I had not the slightest intention of 'bombing' you.
My 'a byte too far?' was a genuinely modest & I hoped
recognisably good humoured apology for barging in
yet again where I might not be welcome - with a not
overly successful offering. As is now apparent, my fears
were well justified.
Believe or not, my original impulse was to help fill
out what at that point looked like a rather meagerly
supported enterprise.
Scottie B.
