i think i've mentioned this before, but:
if you ever have an uncontrollable urge to read the
first 25 pages of any of salinger's 4 books, and
you're hooked up to a computer: go to amazon.com.
for each title, courtesy of amazon's 'look inside'
feature, you can read the first 25 pages. (however,
they are 'copyrighted' and can't be printed.)
i wonder if this is with salinger's blessing?
probably so: it guess it is the equivalent of looking
inside the book in a *new* bookstore. (secondhand
bookstores must be hated by authors--unless they
themselves are buying books).
