Try reading the story in one short sitting, and pay close attention to 
Buddy's attitude towards the Short Man, before and after Buddy reads 
Seymour's journals...something changes.  You may or may not see it as I 
do, but hopefully you'll see something.  Hopefully I'm not mad.  Or 
hopefully I am...blah blah blah, god, it's 11:16 a.m., why am I awake?
