>I'm not sure how I'd do it - would it be better to give to Tim to handle as >organiser of this list ? > I could be stepping on his foot, here, but I don't remember Tim expressing any interest in forming this list of writers. I know he is terribly busy, with how many lists already? (I've often wondered, incidentally, how Tim makes his living, but it's a rude question...unless he'd want to offer that info on his own...) I think one of us who have explicitly expressed interest should take it. I for one don't have much time, only usually reading my mail once or twice a week, but if no one else is willing to volunteer, I wouldn't grumble about putting together all the addresses people want to send and sending the list out to everyone on it. I absolutely cannot, however, be a sort of leader or moderator of the list, mostly because I'm unqualified but also because I'm not interested in authority, only in contributing. I don't think we need a nominal leader, however; if it works, the list will work on the problems democratically. And in any human microcosm--even on the internet, one would expect--the natural leaders always emerge on their own.
