liz,
i'm not sure that saying holden was neglected by his parents is a defensible
position if you stick to the text.  true they don't play a huge part in the
story, but does it follow that they don't play a significant part in holden's
off-text life?  i got the feeling they weren't negligent, just
negligible...matt
