I suppose that Holden's parents really were not negligent because they
took control of all of the basic parent responsibilities. What I meant
was that they did not seem to really care or try to solve Holden's
problems because they just kept sending him to a new boarding school,
even though he really just wanted to be home. It seemed like they had
isolated themselves from their sons life.
