I know that neither the lamentable Free Trade Agreement (made ever MORE
unacceptable when it was expanded into NAFTA) nor the fact that my
grandfather was born in Yipsilanti (sp?) Michigan qualify me for a vote, but
I've always had an even softer spot for Mr. Guthrie's even more beautiful
"Pastures of Plenty"....

......and then there's always "Born in the USA", by the Boss....

Cheers,
Paul

OSO--I've just been reading "This Sandwich Has No Mayonnaise" (which I
haven't looked at for more than a quarter of a century), and I was somewhat
shocked and dismayed to (re?)discover that Holden went "missing in action"
during what must be assumed was World War II..... YUCK!
Anyway, I remember that probably around the same time that I first read the
story there were rumours that Jerry Mathers (Beaver Cleaver) had been killed
in Vietnam..... These rumours were obviously totally unfounded--since Mr.
Mathers has made a number of regrettable television appearances in the
meantime (although he apparently makes most of his money selling used cars
in San Diego or somewhere.....)
Can/should I/we cling to the hope that Holden is as UNdead or UNmissing as
Beaver?
