Taxi Driver

Here's an odd thing. `Taxi Driver' was on cable the other day and as I
watched I noticed some startling little details :

1) A character alienated and angry in New York (duh (: )

Okay ... that's obvious. But how about this?

2) ... who sees an idiosyncratic drummer (not at Radio City Music Hall but
on the street ... the one who says `And now Gene Vincent's syncopated
style')

3) Who is very concerned about buying a particular record for the object of
his affections

4) Who is very concerned about the fate of a teenage hooker.

There were more, but these ones all clustered up as I was thinking about
it. The only real notable difference is of course the ending. Call me crazy
but I've always found the end of `Taxi Driver' pretty weak - wouldn't it
have been a lot more psychologically interesting if Travis Bickle had've
had all these fantasies about becoming famous through a slaughter but
*didn't* carry them out?

(Speaking of `A Clockwork Orange' ... my boyfriend went as Alex to a fancy
dress party yesterday (I went as Lara Croft, from Tomb Raider (: )
