Let's look at this analogy, shall we? A fine Swiss watch is a good, expensive
thing. Dependable. You know what to expect from it. Takes a licking and
keeps on ticking. etc.

Honey is also a good thing. Sweet. Cheap. Not ever exactly the same twice
but always tasty.

These two things individually are great, but if you put them together
everything stops. You can no longer eat the sweet honey, nor can you depend
on your fine Swiss watch.

A beautiful woman is a good expensive thing. Dependable. You know what to
expect from it. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. etc.

Education is also a good thing. Sweet. Cheap. Not ever exactly the same
twice but always tasty.

These two things individually are great, but if you put them together
everything stops. You can no longer enjoy the sweet erudition of education,
nor can you depend on your beautiful woman, she now has a brain and can think
for herself, turning your alpha-male hierarchy upside down.

The analogy seems to be a eulogy for the male-dominated society in which
Vonnegut grew up that was overthrown by the onslaught of feminism in which he
came of age. It may also just mean that Kurt likes ignorant, leggy blondes
with a nice full C-cup. Either way, I always enjoy a good Vonnegut quote.
