   Hello,

I hope you will pardon this indulgence, but with the
"I love you" virus in the news today, and the recent
"flurry" of bananafish postings, I felt like putting
this down and sending it out. It does have a slight JDS connection,
   you know.

   I hope you enjoy it

   all the best,
   Mattis

   One poem on virus

what is there in the promise of
"I love you" - no not the spoken vow
but the intangible potential lying in the words
as if they hint "let this be spoken
and watch your own eyes open,
   god-like, opening the world without
   the world within"

and those that might be wary
will still open promising love letters
as though expecting unexpected gifts like broken watches
or thinking, or not thinking, dreamily
let it be lies, let it be empty, only
let it be truly meant for me
