Came across this. Note the author note. And wouldn't a run of all the
original magazine publications of JDS be a neat and wonderful (and valuable)
gift from Santa?

    28. Salinger, J. D. The Young Folks. Story Magazine March-April 1940.
Vol. XVI No. 82
New York Story Magazine 1940. G/Wraps. Salingers first published short
story, pgs 26-30. In 1939 Salinger attended Whit Burnett's short-story
writing class at Columbia University. The following year Burnett published
this short story in Story Magazine, a show case for young authors, making it
the authors first published work. A short biographical sketch reads as
though it might have been written by Salinger himself " J. D. Salinger, who
is twenty-one years old, was born in New York. He attended public grammar
schools, one military academy, and three colleges, and has spent one year in
Europe. He is particularly interested in playwriting." The wraps are
separated from the body of the magazine. Small piece missing from top of
spine plus other small chips along the spine. Back cover nearly separated
from spine along the crease. Edges slightly worn, back cover discolored in
spots, spine faded. Contents are solid, pages are slightly yellowed, small
piece missing from front edge of page 17 does not affect the text. Some
pages have discoloration along the edges. Salingers style is very evident in
this amusing story of a young woman on the make at a party. Book # 000157
