Slightly haunted by will's remark, I decided to go back and read these two
stories (not having read them, or, for that matter, much of JDS's work,
since R.M. Nixon waved a tearful good-bye to a greatly relieved nation) to
see if I could deduce which was finished first.

After reading both, of course I can't say with certainty which preceded
which. But: I must say I found "Go See Eddie" almost completely devoid of
anything that one might suspect, looking back to his origins, to be a future
inkling of JDS. By contrast, "The Young Folks" frolics with intimations of
JDS.

Perhaps I just didn't do justice to "Go See Eddie" with my reading. Anyone
care to clue me in.

Oh, and for those of you who are in held-breath anticipation after my
announcement of starting _Hapworth_, a quick report on how I'm finding it.
I've _finally_ finished Buddy's italicized introduction: excellent! Soon, on
to the salutation of the letter proper.
