Wow, yeah.
Your alter-interpretation/translation is much more understandable. Both
with regard to the Dwarf Song by itself and to its relation with "The
Laughing Man." If I had some concrete thoughts on what that ever-important
'relation' was I'd share -- but still too many ideas swirling around and
never enough time to sort them out (or respond to emails :-).
[On a side note: This list is full of informative people. Still amazes me
that when I ask for clarification of a poem's stanza I get a whole new
translation of it. Just amazing.]
