It was mulligan stew, I think I saw Neo throw a kitchen sink. Not all comic
books are that way. 'Sucker'? I don't know Jim. How do you explain the
Morivingian thing?

Finally saw the movie.

I'm not sure where your disappointment is coming from, Daniel. It's a
middle film -- nothing is supposed to be resolved until the finale. The
first film presented Neo with choices; the second film presents choice
itself as a problem since the Matrix is trying to incorporate all
randomness into its programming, so that choices are all predetermined
and it maintains control that way. Neo is now in a position to try to
figure a way out of that one without, of course, allowing all humanity
to be exterminated. I think the film continues drawing from Baudrillard
-- "On Nihilism" posits the possibility that a small countercurrent to a
hegemonic system can undo the whole thing, something like winking at the
audience after delivering a long, passionate speech. "Zion" and the
resistance movement being the product of a small anomaly in the system.

Choices are presented as "already made" and we now only need to
understand "why we made them." Choice can be seen here as a function
of character, character a function of previous choices. Neo tends to
resist all forms of hegemonic control, so it'll be interesting to see
where that goes.

Of course, less than an hour of the 2.5 hour film actually advanced the
plot. The rest was either gratuitous violence or gratuitous
bacchanalia. But what do you expect from a live action comic book? :)
