I think the principal objection is not so much to the sarcasm (or
disrespect or abrasiveness) of these odd posts (not the one above, but the
one Glions refers to) as it is to the people who send them and the manner
in which they do so. It typically is someone who's never posted before
and who rarely posts a follow up. someone, in other words, not interested
in a dialectic of any sort. Someone who might even be the vicitim of a
terminal left unattended long enough for a practical joke. But the most
recent post didn't seem to have any sort of dialogue in mind. It was
self-contained and solipsistic. had someone who participates on the list
sent it, the outcome would likely have been much different.
