Not at all. He's compulsively readable. I find his style is something like
Patrick White's - the sheer quality of the prose is such that no matter the
subject you're compelled on like riding on the crest of a wave. But the
best way to judge would be to pick up a copy of one of his books. Lolita's
a good place to start, `Pale Fire' if you want to read his work but don't
want to deal with the controversy (:
