There was an article last summer in The New York Times, I think, about how
Ken Kesey just happened to be in New York during this latest production of
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. He was bored one evening, and so he
decided to pop in and take in the show.

He went in there disguised and nobody recognized him.

When it ended, he went back to the stage door and begged admittance.
Nobody believed him when he told them who he was, but he was finally
allowed in when somebody finally recognized him.

It's pretty common knowledge that he'd hated the movie when it came out
(despite all its many oscars) because it took the viewpoint away from
Chief Broom. He wanted, he said, to tell him that it was the best
production of his work that he'd ever seen.

And then he turned around and went out.

He was something else.

Regards,
Cecilia.
