I think that is the best story I've read since joining the list.
The unexplained snapshots .... the evasive stranger
with the aunt ('definitely not a Sybil') who loved the great
man ... the ambiguous beach scene ...
It sounds to me like The Commissioning of the Mozart Requiem
meets The Aspern Papers. What you have there, Tim, is the launch
pad for the story which, done right, will provide a pension for your
old age.
