Salinger straps on a strat?

Hmm...very strange Salinger experience last night..... I was
doing my usual stalking around town looking for dropped change
when I noticed an advert in the window of a pub with a thatched
roof for "THE CATCHER IN THE RYE -- NEXT MONDAY 18TH 8PM".

Now, I presume most people on this list aren't too familiar with
Limerick, Ireland, the town of my abode, but let me just say that
literature isn't the number one entertainment here. No, that
honour goes to the a wonderful sport involving men charging at
each other with maximum momentum attempting to determine which of
them has the tougher hide (they also use an oval ball which can't
possibly be expected to bounce properly). That would be rugby to
those who still don't know what's what.

Anyway, this particular pub would be the type of place that the
above-mentioned men would quite enjoy sojourning to to imbibe a
larger-than-average quantity of alcohol and compare hide-markings
and so on. So, it was quite a surprise for me to see that "THE
CATCHER IN THE RYE" himself, herself or itself is performing there.
My friend, Ger (another Salinger buff like myself - i.e. he doesn't
know the first thing about him) agreed to accompany me on Monday
next in a display of No Fear, to this pit of depravity and violence.
Together the two of us imagined an oasis of talent, truth and
beauty to be unearthed amongst the swine slurping their sloshing
swill. We would stand there in rapture, oblivious to all hell erupting
about our sorry heads as our hero(ine) performed a miracle of sorts
for our singular pleasure. Ah yes, roll over the weekend and proceed
Monday night to my heart. . .

And it's only 2 quid in and you get free chicken wings before
10pm. Excellent deal! I'll return with the details.

PS if JDS turns up, anyone have any questions they'd like me to ask
him, or abuse they want flung at him, or even his autograph? No?
