I think I love the Short Stories the most. I I have read the Bananafish and Teddy story at least fifty times. In Catcher I love the scenes with the nuns and F&Z is always difficult to put down - I seem to be able to pick it up anywhere and catch a new thread. RHTRBC has an extra well thumbed part where Buddy races around trying to make the airconditioning work and prepare cold drinks for the hot occupants of the taxi (I think of that everytime I'm suddenly an unexpected "hostess" for demanding friends). And then Buddy goes into the bathroom and reads Seymour's diary about marriage and children. On a related note, last night I was lying in bed thinking about how the Glass family has the scrapbooks of the children plastered directly into the wall of the apartment. It seemed like an interesting contrast to the "our children are visitors to us" part of Seymour's diary - as though Mr and Mrs Glass were trying to cement the Glass children's childhood into the foundations of their home/family . >Lesley
