Possibly the same reason Holden still tries communicating with the sheltered,
narrow minded girls at the club in NY, or Franny still associates with what's
his name, something with an L. Anyway, desperately lonesome, even when one
hates the human race one still needs contact and will suffer with
misunderstanding people anyway.
