How do you, as people from the UK, North America, and Australia, regard the families in Salinger's stories? I already said that I am from South America (specifically, Venezuela), but I've been living in Canada for a year now and I can't help but compare both cultures. In my country families are very close knit and people leave their parents home only when they are about to get married (around 24-26 years old). It seems to me that the families portrayed in Salinger's stories are like that, more like clans. mc >
