In elementary school the U.S. was described as a melting pot because
it was a mixture of all different kinds of people. In high school the
U.S. is described as a salad because different kinds of people are
tossed together but don't mix. I suppose the U.S. would be a
heterogenous mixture instead of a homogenous mixture.(:
