Hi, folks. I'm having a problem here. Remember the last time that you told a really clever, funny joke and someone didn't get it? That happened today. There was this lady telling a joke to about ten other people & one of them didn't get it. The rest of the crew spent the next ninety seconds explaining a ten second joke. He finally got it, but it wasn't funny anymore. The explaination killed the humour. Kurt Vonnegut is my favorite author & I just found a listserve like this about Vonnegut. I don't think I'll join it, though. I joined this listserve as way of accumulating information because I'm in Will's class. I've found some beauty that has brought me to tears this semester while reading Sallinger, and it is very personal. Sometimes I have to skip through messages here because there are no words to express what this story, or that character, or that memory of this character has meant to me, and, in seeing others try, sometimes the personal, emotionally involving part is diminished. The joke isn't funny anymore. Y'know? I mean, I'm not trying to attack this place, in fact I enjoy this very much, but, sometimes..... Sorry, I just read Good Day for Bananafish, and, well....... Namaste, Thor P.S.
