Actually, I prefer to think of John Dryden's quote: `Nor is the people's judgement always true, The most may err as grossly as the few.' Yes, Australia voted No to becoming a republic - and in my state it was very close, 48% for and 52% against. I realised from the start that my country did after all vote in our current prime minister, a man of such dazzling anti-charisma that he is almost like a small, slow moving black hole. I saw him at the theatre last week, and though there were bodyguards, cameras and lights I literally almost walked into him. I was amazed to notice that he is actually more underwhelming in real life than he is on TV.
