You talk as if pumpkin is a *sweet* food. Pumpkin is not a sweet food. You have roasted pumpkin with a baked dinner. You have it in scones (or whatever you call them out there, biscuits or whatever). It is a *vegetable*. Apples and lemons are not. Do you go having potato pie for dessert? No. Do you have a cauliflower pie for dessert? No. Yet you have pickles in your hamburgers. Strange, strange race ... I will justify this frivolity by linking this discussion ever so tenuously to the healthy eating habits of Salinger. Well ... I bet *he* wouldn't turn up his nose at pumpkin soup! Jim wrote: > Who thought of pumpkin pie? Same people that thought of apple pie, lemon meringue pie, peach cobbler, the list of fruit in solid dessert form actually goes on quite long. But apple soup? Lemon soup? > > Aussies...sheesh... > > Jim >
