"Pumpkin pie, now there's something I really get a
bang out of. Phoebe has to have everyone's crust. I
like the crust too, but I go ahead and give her mine
anyway. We were coming back from some damn fencing
match and passed a field of pumpkins once. The coach
had to pull over because his car's goddamn carburator
was giving him a royal pain. I got out of the car and
looked at them; they call them pumpkin patches which I
think is a real laugh, they were just there: up and
down in rows. All of a sudden the orange color
reminded me of Allie, you know, as though he was
everywhere at once in that damn field.
Pumpkin soup? That's something old Sally would have
tried at some phony expensive joint if she were being
high falutin' and all.....
