I suppose somewhat of an intorduction is needed since I'm primarily a =
lurker
and have not talked much here although I've been listening quite well =
for
the past three years or so. I'm Amber. Amber who almost went to NYU and
instead (wisely) chose Agnes Scott College, where I sat just slightly =
to the
right rear of Kurt Vonnegut as he gave the 110th Commencement Address =
of
ASC. Amber who wants to write and gets great encouragement from all you
Bananafish who have swam before... :) enough David Copperfield!

I'm interested... by Persian do you mean Farsi? I don't know much about =
the
language myself but at home (where I'll be going for tofuturkey day) I =
have
an old dictionary that translates Farsi into English (but not English =
into
farsi!) so I'd have to know the actual farsi in squiggly letters and =
all to
translate. I once tried to learn Farsi at an old loves prompting (it =
was his
native language) and did horribly; I can't even read my own English
handwriting much less my Farsi! He owns a bootleg copy of Pari that was
copied from a promotional version he found in France and gave to me as =
a
gift. We watched the movie together but unfortunatly during the =
conversion
process from French videocasette into VHS the last third of the movie =
was
cut. Likewise unfortunatly our relationship ended on a sour note and =
neither
one of us is willing to speak to one another so it is doubtful I could
regain possesion of the film, however for interested Bananafish I'd be
willing to relate what my poor memory has retained from the one time I
watched it two years ago. Has anyone else seen the film that I can =
perhaps
compare notes with?

I could live in hope...

Amber

Speaking of nymphs:

I asked an Iranian friend of mine of Pari, and he said (apart from
=93everyone I knew in Iran has fled the country=94) that =93pari=94 =
meant =93fairy=94 in
Persian. Which, in my ears, sounded just right.
