'... I'm an english teacher with a phd and don't like to use
the shift key when online ...'

Few of us, of course, can compete with that PhD.
I still maintain, Will, that for anyone habitually using
a keyboard it takes rather a DELIBERATE effort
to AVOID using the shift key. I also maintain that
all-lower-case typing introduces an ambiguity which
demands more effort from a reader than a well-mannered
writer would wish to impose. For God's sake, it's hard
enough to make oneself intelligible without erecting
artificial barriers. If you wish to welcome your reader
in the way of any good host you don't insist he take
off his shoes & socks. He may decide not to come back.
